At Miro & Makauri, sustainability isn’t a one-off initiative — it’s something we’ve committed to consistently over time.
We’re pleased to confirm that we’ve renewed our annual contribution to our carbon offsetting programme, continuing a partnership that has been in place since 2015.
Over 5,400 Trees Planted (and Growing)
Through our ongoing support, we have now contributed to the planting of:
5,426 trees — including 600 tropical hardwood trees planted this year alone.
This figure reflects our long-term involvement across multiple parts of the business over the years. In reality, the total environmental impact may be even greater.
Each year, this contribution helps:
- Offset a portion of our operational carbon footprint
- Support long-term reforestation projects
- Contribute to biodiversity and habitat restoration
Why This Matters
As a supplier to independent pet shops and garden centres, we understand that sustainability is becoming increasingly important — not just for businesses, but for customers too.
Our approach is simple:

- Support credible environmental initiatives
- Keep improving over time rather than making empty claims
This carbon offsetting programme is just one part of that wider effort, alongside our focus on:

Supporting a Wider Environmental Conversation
This year, the 'Mvule Project' will also be recognised at the United Nations Association London & South East Region Summer Conference, focused on climate change and environmental action.
It’s encouraging to help a project that is a part of a wider network of organisations working towards the same goal — practical, measurable progress.
